# Multiplayer

Edit a PLAY project with your team at the same time. See who is in the project, follow their work, and watch changes land live.

Multiplayer lets several people work in the same PLAY project at once. Everyone with edit access can add, move, and change layers at the same time, and each change appears for everyone else in the project as it happens. There is nothing to turn on. Open a project and you are in the session; anyone else who opens it joins you.

Before Multiplayer, the first person into a project held it and everyone else waited or worked from a stale copy. That lock is gone. Two designers can build different scenes in parallel, a producer can review while the work is still moving, and changes made by CRAFTSMAN INTELLIGENCE reach everyone in the project like any other edit.

The pages in this section cover the three parts of working together:

* [**Collaborators**](/play/general/multiplayer/collaborators.md). See who is in the project, which scene they are on, where their cursor is, and follow them.
* [**Live Editing**](/play/general/multiplayer/live-editing.md). What syncs between people, what stays local to you, and what happens when two people change the same thing.
* [**Access & Connection**](/play/general/multiplayer/access-and-connection.md). Who can edit, what view-only looks like, and what the connection banners mean.

***

### Where Multiplayer Shows Up

Multiplayer surfaces in three places in the PLAY editor, and only while someone else is in the project with you:

* **Toolbar**. An avatar for each person in the project appears in the top toolbar.
* **Layers Panel**. A small avatar marks the scene each person is working in.
* **Canvas**. Other people's cursors and selections are drawn in their color on the artboard.

When you are alone in a project, none of this is visible and the editor looks as it always has.

***

### Sessions Are Per Project

A Multiplayer session belongs to one project. Each Variant of a project is its own session, so people working in different Variants do not see each other or each other's changes. To work together, open the same Variant.

{% hint style="info" %}
*Multiplayer covers PLAY projects. Version History is read-only, and template editing is not synced between people.*

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.craftsmanplus.com/play/general/multiplayer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
